Doctoral Research

Project type

Doctoral Research

Date

2020-2024

Location

Tallinn, Estonia

My doctoral research project focused on developing flexibility and alternative practice strategies by using the historical clarinet as a creative tool. Through the musical affordances of a 13-keyed Müller system clarinet, I reflected on their impact on my everyday practice, the way they shaped my playing, and how they forced me to reconsider my practice strategies and musical decisions. The historical clarinet became a place of embodied learning.

I am also interested in the meta-research aspect of artistic research, such as methodology construction, the correlation between art and “scientific experimentation,” and the positive and problematic aspects of adapting methodologies borrowed from other humanities. My methodological framework is based on Autoethnography.

I have given workshops and seminars about Artistic Research and its methods in Tallinn, Rome, and Alessandria. If you wish to invite me, contact me!
